10 Yard
Roll Off Dumpster

Equal to 4 pickup truck loads and holds an average of 2 tons. A 10 yard dumpster is often all that’s needed to take care of attic clean outs and removing debris from garages and basements. This size works well for all sorts of yard work, home cleanup and small projects around the home. Common uses: Home Projects, Clean outs, Junk Removal.

20 Yard

Equal to 8 pickup truck loads and holds an average of 3 tons. Renting a 20 yard dumpster makes it possible to handle most residential needs when cleaning out closets or getting rid of a buildup of household debris. The 20 yard dumpster provides ample room for roofing construction discards, construction projects and other assorted debris. Equal to 12 pickup truck loads and holds an average of 4-5 tons. 40 Yard

Equal to 14 pickup truck loads and holds an average of 5-6 tons. For those extra-large work projects, you may find that a 40 yard dumpster is up to the task. Typically, the 40 yard dumpster is utilized by construction crews, though it is also available for residential purposes when the need arises for a large heavy duty unit. The size is ideal when renovating a home, adding on a room addition or removing old roofing or household carpeting and padding. Common uses: Commercial and Major Renovation, Construction Debris.

Calculating Dumpster Sizes

The total volume of a dumpster is measured in cubic yards (yd³), where as the exterior of the dumpster is measures in feet. The exterior dimensions are the length, width, and height. By multiplying the exterior dimensions (in feet), you will get the volume in cubic feet. In order to convert cubic feet to cubic yards, you must divide the volume in cubic feet by 27.
